The Island Calls

I long to see
God's glory in a face
Met with death
Untimely, in a place
Where evil, rampant,
Rules by rule alone;
Dispensing justice
As a privilege honed.
Arrogant, proud,
The island calls:
'Why should I care
Who takes the fall?'

  1. Interesting poem. Made me think of Hamas shooting onto Israeli soil, but the island doesn't fit.

  2. The 'island' referred to the president's retreat to Martha's Vineyard and his seeming disregard for the horrors taking place in the Middle East.
    Thanks for commenting, Joyce! Much appreciated!

  3. There is something charming about an island, the beach the sea . . . . . .
