Two by two, I walk the boards on our deck.
Two by two by two, then turn
And, retrace my steps, reversed, refined.
Wonder. Will my heart learn?
Miracles, unexpected, shower blessings
Which eyes, alert, can glean, discern,
When open. Captured by His holy presence,
I realize grace I've never earned.
Two by two, I am on board your deck.
Amen and amen for this. Noah's prayer is ours as well. Love the different layers of this simple verse, Martha.

For my heart to learn, it will have to 'unlearn' many things! I am rather intrigued by the phrase 'two by two'. It seems to have more meaning than what is apparent.

Portia, truthfully, I'm not sure if the two-by-two had any additional meaning when I wrote this, but one could certainly read things into this; that's what poetry should make us do, shouldn't it?

Beautiful Martha, simply beautiful. Like Portia, I kind of wonder if there's more meaning to the phrase "two by two" than what is readily apparent.

Now that I've had time to think on it, it only takes small steps to traverse our deck when you only move two boards at a time. Small steps are sometimes necessary to take before we can actually make the leap we need to. I guess you can read into it whatever moves you personally, my friend. Thanks for coming by!

What is not to like? I read me and my grandson. It fits another love of mine.
