Martha, I've been thinking about how/why I go to church--it seems like I'm simply going through the motions at times. Yet I long for more...I also know how God desires to be worshiped.
I hear you loud and clear, Kim. It's been very difficult for Danny and me to go back to our church (we attended this Sunday, and it felt more like "going through the motions). That's sad, and not how worship should feel, ever. God does desire our full attention and worship of Him, and I hope He shows us that open window soon. Love and blessings!
I felt that way too but have found a church in Stockbridge that has changed that for me! Quite a good place to go!They have a chapel side for more traditional services....and they also have a contemporary side where I go..Great Pastors and people that genuinely care about each other...It's the caring Family type atmosphere that helps make it special and I feel quite at home there...The messages and teachings are always great too!!

That's so great to hear, Doc! Yes, I strongly believe there are plenty of churches that are welcoming and warm. Glad you've found a happy home. Love and blessings!
I think one of the reasons all of us experience something 'less than' the oneness in the spirit with God at times, especially during a worship service, is that we have not cleared a way in our hearts and prepared our spirits for that time. There may be unforgiveness, or all sorts of things standing in the way, but most of all I think it is simply because we are too busy to become quite, still and KNOW that He is God. Daily prayer, reading and asking for understanding and faith of The Word, memorization of scripture, mediation and a oneness with him, and bringing others to the knowledge of Christ, is what we Christians should want, instead of expecting that we are to become 'filled' for a couple of hours when we walk into church once a week.

ReplyDeleteAmen, Bren! May all who read your advice take it to heart. That is truly the way in which we, as Christians, should walk.
