Pursued

Pursued

He's coming after me
Intent upon destroying
Hopes and daring dreams
With taunts and hurts deploying
That I might finally be
Submitted to a fate
Of his askew creation
Upon the Lord, I wait
The truth, one cannot quell
From Living Waters' well
I quench my searching thirst
The last is now the first

Pray Without Ceasing

Prayers lifted
Prayers heard
Prayers pressing
Prayers heard
Prayers screaming
Prayers heard
God will answer
In His time
Not ours
But in His
Alone.  Prayers
Always, always,
Always heard.

Amen

Regrets!

Regrets!  I regard the snow
Fallen in frigid freeze
Clinging, gripping obstinately
To sub-zero breath and breeze
Yet, invites a welcome stay
To warmth, to hearth; home and heart
Retreat!  Into the sheltering arms
Of the One who won't depart.

This Moment's Breath

This moment's breath
Noted, how and why
The in then out
of air - necessity
Transforms being
Into otherness
Inhale, exhale
Breathing into wholeness.

Amen.

Mary's Heart

"Yes," she said
When angel hailed
as favored one
"Yes," she said
Knowing the world
Stood against her
"Yes," she said
Soul magnifies
The Lord of Lords
Yes!

I Lay Before You

A teardrop of wax
Shed in the burning
Of flame, aglow
With a yearning
For answered prayer
I lay before You
In the light
All things are new
All is right

Autumn's Promise

Romans 15:12
And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in Him the Gentiles will hope.

The leaves fall
Tumbling down
Dancing on wind
Pitter-patter
Like raindrops
Scatter glory
Twist and twirl
Descend with grace
Draw attention
Make their mark
Though now faded
Remembered well
The vibrant green
Once spring's face
Recalled, renewed,
Will come again
In hope, they will
Come again

Love's Fire

The tender part
The heart that cares
The love that flows
And freely shares;
That is my desire.
The tinder part
Of you, I see:
Think less of you
And more of Me.
Set the world on fire!

Leaf Falls

Leaf out of season
Unduly rendered past prime
Falls to ground.  Reminds.

Lies!

Lies in my holy name
As if I give permission
For divination blatant
Idolatry reminiscent
Of the first betrayal
When I looked, I searched
I sought the naked souls
Who, in their shame, ran
For cover before All-Knowing
Eyes and ears and mind and soul.
Only I Am makes them whole!

Life Line

This poem emerged from the trauma of having to administer at-home antibiotics to my husband, Danny, after his latest surgeries to remove an infected pacemaker, and replace it, on the other side of his chest, with a new one.

Sanitized hands poised and ready
Alcohol swab held tentatively
Scrub the hub, scrub the hub
Eyes closed momentarily
Remembering the brief instructions
A second's breath held; the blame
If mistake is made, means every
Stride from there to here, negated
Fit and tighten; tighten - pump
Detach, attach anew the healing
Bulb of balm for soul infected
Wait it out.  Wait.  Wait.
Time's up!  Loose the bonds!
Scrub the hub, scrub the hub
Inject the cleansing element
Infuse the sealing cure for all

May Jesus "scrub our hub" and make us all ready and willing for His cleansing cure!

Journey Not Expected

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:  "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight pats for Him.'" ~Luke 3:4

Journey not expected
Is the road to take
When interrupted
For God will make
Rough ways smooth
The ruts and potholes filled
His way before us
Calm and gentle
Stilled

Alone - Holy Saturday Reflection

Alone
So alone
Hiding
He is gone
Grieving
Bitter tears
Hope
Hope flies
Away
And yet
Maybe
Not alone
Promise
Words recalled
Tears
Wash clean
Eyes
To see

Strong Together

Two stand strong together
One of Chosen People
One of City on the
Hill, side by side
Resolved, united, one
In heart and mind and soul
That peace may come; God's peace
To heal, and make us whole.

Festive Ribbon

Festive ribbon, sprawling red
Reminder of the blood once shed
By the One who bore our sin;
In manger, saw His life begin.
No wreath adorned nor sparkling tree
Could replicate this gift to me.
And yet, they point me to the Way
Of hope and faith; my guide, I pray.

Coming Home

The wind dies down
The cold abates
And God abides
My soul partakes
In His promise
Hope is new
In fallen leaf
In sunset's hue
The leaves as raindrops
Scatter-pat
Address with grace
Their autumn flat
Of residence
Finding home
Claiming home
Coming home

Fishers of Men

Like waves meeting shore
My thoughts crescendo, recede
Into His, once more
And my heart, wanton, longing
Knows it's met its match
That is grand beyond belief;
The Lord makes the catch.

Advent

One candle lit
Beginning
Of a welcome
Yet to be
Full of promise
Waiting hope
Hope in waiting
For the coming
Of our King

One Vagrant Cloud

One vagrant cloud
Above my head
Incites a rush
Of awe
Instead
Of staid
Too placid
Comfortable me
No other place
I'd rather be

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your in the glory in the heavens . ~Psalm 8:1
